There's some peace in the kitchen. Macy's says it has settled its lengthy legal dispute against Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. The retailer didn't disclose the terms of the settlement. Macy's had sued the company and its partner, J.C. Penney after the two announced a deal whereby Penney would sell Martha Stewart's branded cookware and bath products. Penney under then-CEO Ron Johnson was betting that Stewart would help revamp its struggling retail business. Macy's charged that that deal had breached its exclusive right to sell Stewart's kitchen, bedding and bath goods. Martha Stewart is Macy's #1 home brand. After a highly publicized battle in court, Penney and Stewart agreed in October to pull Stewart's home products from its stores. The settlement does not impact Macy's legal dispute with Penney, which awaits a court decision.
