New Jersey Governor Chris Christie touches down in Mexico City Wednesday for the start of a three-day trade mission. The New Jersey Republican -- who is a potential presidential candidate -- is aiming to boost trade ties between Mexico and New Jersey. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE SAYING: "Mexico is an extraordinarily important trading partner for the U.S. and we hope through this trip to continue to strengthen those ties and to expand the opportunity, as Mexico is going through significant changes, expanding their economic opportunity around the world." New Jersey exports more than $2 billion in goods to Mexico a year. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE, SAYING: "Through this mission and our partnership with Connect Americas we hope to see increased trade, economic growth, job creation and higher education in both New Jersey and Mexico." The Mexico trip is Christie's second trip abroad as governor -- he visited Israel in 2012.
