Apple's getting an A+ from its customers on its latest iPhones. The iPhone 6 and larger screen iPhone 6 Plus off to a record-breaking start. Apple says it got four million first-day pre-orders for them. That's double the iPhone 5's back in 2012. Based on those pre-orders, analysts estimate first weekend sales may be as high as 10 million units. Some customers may even have to wait until October for their new phones. Part of what's driving the demand is that there is finally a chance to have both an iPhone and a bigger screen: S&P Capital IQ's Scott Kessler: SOUNDBITE: SCOTT KESSLER, SECTOR HEAD, TECHNOLOGY EQUITY RESEARCH, S&P CAPITAL IQ: "We definitely think that you are going to have some people who left are going to come back. But we do wonder if people are kind of going to be able to deal with some of the other considerations, which is leaving another kind of platform, and of course, also the associated costs of doing that." And that is key. Carriers - including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have been heavily promoting the phones- making the switch back easier. SOUNDBITE: SCOTT KESSLER, SECTOR HEAD, TECHNOLOGY EQUITY RESEARCH, S&P CAPITAL IQ: "I think most notable this time around is that it seems like a lot of the carriers have been getting involved in some pretty significant and attractive promotional activity, and we think that is - - also raised the bar in terms of people buying more than might have been expected otherwise." Deliveries begin on Friday. The phones will be available in stores- while supplies last.
