Indonesia's new president, Joko Widodo sits atop a horse drawn carriage as he makes his way to the presidential palace. The newly inaugurated Jokowi, as he's known amongst supporters, was escorted into his new residence by outgoing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who'd been in power for the past 10 years. Widodo's rise from small town furniture businessman to leader of the world's third largest democracy marks the first time in the country's history that a president's been elected from outside the established military and political elite. Despite his image as a common man, some say his insistence on transparency and can-do approach may face resistance in the legislature. Jokowi was sworn in during an official ceremony in parliament. World leaders including U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott were on hand for the event. Just weeks after taking office Jokowi will be thrust into the international limelight as he attends an Asian-Pacific summit in China and the G20 summit in Australia.
