Some have been waiting hours to get into the store. Angels is the UK's largest costume hire company. And customers are keen to get their hands on Halloween fancy dress. Manager, Andy Andreu says sales so far are through the roof. SOUNDBITE: Andy Andreu, manager, Angels, saying (English): "Every year it surprises me and every year I think ah it won't surprise me this year and every year it just blows my mind how busy we get." The Pagan festival, known as All Hallows Eve, has only really taken off in Britain in the last decade. But thanks to its popularity in the U.S. it's become one of the highlights in the UK retail calender too. According to one report, almost two-thirds of Brits are expected to celebrate Halloween in some way. That's set to give retailers a £330 million pound boost - 3.5 percent more than last year. Sophie Carroll is from Planet Retail. SOUNDBITE: Sophie Carroll, retail analyst, Planet Retail, saying (English): "In terms of retail spend the consumer market place is much healthier than last year, so consumers are willing to spend more money." Like Christmas, Halloween spending seems to start earlier each year. UK supermarket Waitrose reported a 10 percent rise in sales of seasonal decorations and confectionery two-weeks before the holiday. Another high street supermarket says it's expecting to sell almost one and a half million pumpkins. SOUNDBITE: Andy Andreu, manager, Angels, saying (English): "We start preparing for Halloween from November, through to the next Halloween. It's massive for us, it's the biggest time of year." A UK economy which is looking far less scary than in previous years is helping the trend. And Halloween is now proving to be ghoulishly good for adults - not just children.
