Lupita Nyong'o humbled by Glamour honor

The actress was among Glamour magazines Women of the Year. Alicia Powell reports.

Glamour magazine continued its tradition of celebrating women during its annual Women of the Year Awards ceremony in New York City. Each year the list includes politicians, philanthropists, celebrities and other leaders who make the world a better place. This year Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o made the cut and was modest about the recognition. SOUNDBITE: Lupita Nyong'o, actress, saying (English): "I feel really humbled. I feel very humbled to be among women who are literally saving lives in this world. And that the work that I've done this year has stood for something that Glamour saw fit to honor. I'm really humbled by it." British designer Sarah Burton was also honored and said she is living her dream. SOUNDBITE: Sarah Burton, designer, saying (English): "It's true to say that clothes just may be clothes but dreams are never just dreams. They are reality waiting to happen. As a little girl I dreamt of designing dresses and telling stories and I'm so lucky that became a reality." "Orange is the New Black" actress and transgender woman Laverne Cox was celebrated for her continued fight for the LGBT community. SOUNDBITE: Laverne Cox, actress, saying (English): "It is my hope that this moment tonight will inspire so many people to understand that the issues of transgender women are women's issues." Others celebrated were U.S. news anchor Robin Roberts, the U.S. representative to the United Nations, Samantha Power and new mom and activist Chelsea Clinton.
