EDITORS PLEASE NOTE THIS EDIT CONTAINS 4:3 MATERIAL STORY: It's the largest digital glass printer in the world, with an entry in the Guinness Book of Records to prove it. More than 20 yards in length, it can print a single pane of glass almost 20 yards long and three-and-a-half yards wide. Dip-Tech CEO, Yariv Matzliach, says the Israeli firm built the machine to meet an increasing demand for 'super size' printed glass panes. SOUNDBITE: (English) YARIV MATZLIACH, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF DIP-TECH, SAYING: "In the real world people they love to see big things, especially when we're talking about streets and cities and buildings. It's getting bigger and bigger and there's no margin between the panes or between the different subjects but everything is like a picture, everything is like, see big is great." Founded 10 years ago, the company also produces unique patented ceramic ink used to print onto the glass surfaces. SOUNDBITE: (English) YARIV MATZLIACH, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF DIP-TECH, SAYING: "When we took the idea of getting digital on glass, part of it was the ink, the ink itself and we are the only company that can produce and manufacture a ceramic digital ink for the glass industry." At first glance the process looks like that used in normal sized machines - an image is sent to the printer and the ink is then applied to the glass. But the drying process takes time and transferring and installing such large panes is hugely challenging. Matzliach says the company hopes to increase the glass pane size that the printer can handle, and improve image resolution. And although the process is currently for high-end customers, Dip-Tech wants to develop more affordable large-scale printers - and grab an even larger share of the market.
