TV AND WEB RESTRICTIONS~**NONE*~ It's a Christmas to remember for winners of Spain's renowned 'El Gordo' lottery.. and the champagne is flowing. The drawing, the biggest in the world and worth about 2.2 billion Euros this year, took some four hours to complete. For some in Madrid's wax museum, it was a fat win indeed. Naomi Vaszquez is one of ten kids, and she said she'd use the money to bring her grandma over from Equatorial Guinea (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) NAOMI VASQUEZ, 23 YEAR OLD WORKING AS A PHOTOGRAPHER AT THE WAX MUSEUM, SAYING: "My mother is foreign and the first thing I want to do is bring my grandmother here, she is from (Equatorial) Guinea ... I don't know what else to say ... that I am so happy." Charo's lottery shop sold winning tickets, and she's beyond belief. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) CHARO, OWNER OF LOTTERY SHOP WHICH SOLD SOME OF THE WINNING EL GORDO TICKETS, SAYING: "I couldn't believe it because I heard the number wrong at first, I thought it belonged to a man who comes from Brazil and then when I heard the number again, I ran out to give the girls, my colleagues a hug. Emotions run high, of course." For the first time since 2008, ticket sales this year were up, giving some Spaniards a boost.. even in gloomy economic times.
