ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Vice President Joe Biden delivered the weekly address urging uninsured Americans to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Biden was filling in for President Obama who is on vacation with his family in Hawaii and will return to Washington, D.C. this weekend. "I know this is the time of year when we make resolutions to take care of our health, whether it's joining a gym or eating healthier. But there's one thing you can do right now that will also make a big difference in your health: that is getting quality, affordable health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Because of that law, access to quality health care is improving. Last year, almost 7 million people signed up for health care coverage under the new law and paid their premiums," said Biden. "Everyone is beginning to realize what millions of you already know - the Affordable Care Act is working. And we're just getting started. Because there are millions more of you who can get quality, affordable health care if you sign up before February 15th of this year. That's now through February 15th. Now if you don't have insurance, you can go to HealthCare.gov, where you'll find a menu of a bunch of different plans and what each plan covers and how much each plan costs. All you have to do is just pick one," he added. Obama's signature healthcare legislation is aimed at reducing the number of uninsured people although Republicans oppose Obamacare as an unworkable expansion of big government that will hurt businesses and job growth. Nearly 6.5 million people either selected or were enrolled in a new individual insurance plan for 2015 on the HealthCare.gov website through Dec. 26, the U.S. government health agency said. The government has said it is aiming for more than 9 million enrollees for 2015.
