ROUGH CUT, NO REPORTER NARRATION Philippine President Benigno Aquino welcomed Pope Francis at the Malacanang Palace on Friday (January 16), on the second day of the pontiff's visit to the nation of 80 million Catholics. Francis stopped and kissed small children as he walked on the red carpet. Arriving to a warm reception by excited Filipinos who have lined the streets, Pope Francis will meet families, youth, religious leaders and Typhoon Haiyan survivors in a 5-day trip that will underscore his concern for inter-religious dialogue, poverty and the environment. The 78-year-old pontiff will bring a message of compassion to millions of poor Filipinos suffering from the effects of corruption and decades-old insurgencies.
