Russian Muslims rally against depiction's of the Prophet Mohammad. It comes ten days after Islamist militants killed twelve people in Paris at the French weekly Charlie Hebdo for ITS cartoons of the prophet. Authorities say some 15 to 20 thousand people gathered at the rally in the city of Mahgas in the North Caucasus. Many Muslims consider it a blasphemy to create any image of the prophet and some in this crowd held signs that say 'insulting Islam is not a free speech." Supporting the protesters.... an Orthodox priest. (SOUNDBITE) (RUSSIAN) RUSSIAN ORTHODOX PRIEST, ANDREI MISSURA, SAYING: "What a man would never allow done to himself, he will not ever allow it done to someone else." Charlie Hebdo's first cover after the attack featured yet another image of the Prophet Mohammad. The move outraged many Muslims and triggered demonstrations that turned violent in Pakistan, Niger and elsewhere. But the rally in this mostly Muslim region of Russia came and went without incident.
