Danish Police in the capital Copenhagen race to the scene of a shooting. It happened Saturday inside a cafe and cultural center during a meeting attended by controversial cartoonist -- who had received death threats for publishing images of the Prophet Mohammad. Police say one civilian was killed, three police officers were wounded, and two suspects fled the scene in a car. The gathering was billed as a debate on art and blasphemy, and the artist in attendance was Lars Vilks, seen here in 2010. He stirred controversy in 2007 with published images depicting Mohammad as a dog and an American woman was sentenced to ten years in prison two years ago for plotting to kill him. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SWEDISH ARTIST, LARS VILKS, SAYING: "This should be a small thing really. To insult a religion. You cannot make exceptions for religion, I mean that's the point. This should be the same rules as we have for Christianity or the Jewish religion or whatsoever. That we should make an exception - Islam is not more holy than the other ones" Danish media say both Vilks and the French ambassador who was also there were both unharmed. Just over a month ago, 17 people were killed inn France over three days of violence linked to satirical images of Mohammad in the French weekly Charlie Ebdo. French President Francois Hollande says his interior minister will go to the Danish capitol as soon as possible. Police were scouring the area for the suspects and neighboring Sweden is said to be helping in the search.
