ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Speaking at a White House summit on countering violent extremism, President Barack Obama says the U.S. is not at war with Islam, but against terrorists who pervert the religion. "We are here at this summit because of the urgent threats from groups like al Qaeda and ISIL and this week we are focused on prevention, preventing these groups from radicalizing, recruiting or inspiring others to violence in the first place," said Obama. The summit, which started Tuesday and brings together local officials from across the country and ministers from around the world, follows recent shootings in Copenhagen and Paris that have galvanized Western resolve against such extremist attacks. The summit focuses on domestic and international efforts to prevent terrorism attacks. On Thursday, Obama is scheduled to make remarks at the State Department where representatives from dozens of countries have gathered.
