Residents of Mali's capital Bamako are still reeling from shock... ...after a militant attack that began inside of a restaurant and left five people dead in the early hours of Saturday morning. Among the victims, a French citizen and a Belgian security officer. Nine people were also wounded. Michel is an expat from Canada. (SOUNDBITE) (French) CANADIAN BAMAKO RESIDENT, MICHEL, SAYING: "It's horrible. everybody is concerned, everybody is affected by this -- mostly the expatriates -- but it could be anyone. It's blind violence." Later, Mali's President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita paid a visit to the crime scene. Political violence is common in Mali's desert north -- where French forces wrested control of territory from separatist rebels and al Qaeda-linked fighters. But it's been years since a militant attack occurred in Bamako in the south. Speaking in Riga, Latvia, the EU's Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, paid tribute to the victims. SOUNDBITE (English) EU FOREIGN POLICY CHIEF, FEDERICA MOGHERINI, SAYING: "Our condolences to all of the loved ones of all victims of this attack and a special thought to those of our colleagues because one of the victims, the Belgian citizen, was a security officer at the European Union delegation in Bamako." A senior security official says two people have been arrested.
