Armed with their bicycles, thousands of Turkish women are taking to this bridge in Istanbul to end violence against women , as they mark International Women's Day. And they're more than just making their voices heard. They're making themselves seen. (SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) ISTANBUL RESIDENT, SEVDA TUVEL, SAYING: "We are here to say no to violence against women. That is why we will cross the bridge today. That's our slogan. We raise our voice against domestic violence all together." A human rights monitor says close to 300 women were murdered in Turkey in 2014 - a roughly 30 percent increase from the previous year. Some are here to remember the memory of a 20-year-old woman who was stabbed to death after she purportedly tried to fight off her rapist with pepper spray. Her case became a rallying point, prompting protests and condemnation by politicians.
