ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) NASA test-fired an 800-ton solid fuel rocket motor in Utah on Wednesday (March 11) the first full-duration burn of the booster being built for NASA to fly astronauts into deep space. During the two-minute test, the rocket produced as much thrust as 14 Boeing 747 jumbo jets. A flame could be seen exiting the nozzle of the booster after ignition. According to NASA, the booster reached a temperature of around 4,500 degrees Fahrenheit (2,482 degrees Celsius), hot enough to turn sand into glass.
