91-year old Lee Kuan Yew , the founding father of modern Singapore, remains critically ill in Singapore General Hospital. The Prime Minister's office says he's in intensive care. Lee was admitted with severe pneumonia in early February but his health is now reported to be deteriorating because of an infection. His grandson, Li Yipeng, was seen leaving the hospital on Wednesday. Lee was Singapore's first prime minister and remains an iconic political figure in Asia. He's widely credited with transforming Singapore .... from a mosquito-infested swamp under British colonial rule .... to a financial powerhouse with one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. With his son Lee Hsien Loong now the country's prime minister, Lee Kwan Yew has withdrawn from the public and political scene. But his health has been closely watched because he is still considered an influential figure - even in his nineties. .
