Nigeria's President-elect Buhari vows to target Boko Haram as analysts say he must tackle corruption in country where ''number of private jets out numbers public aircraft.'' Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

--PART AUDIO AS INCOMING-- Celebrations on the streets of Nigeria's Kano City as fellow northerner Muhammadu Burhari officially becomes president. As he addressed the nation the new President vowed to "spare no effort" in defeating militant group Boko Haram. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NIGERIA'S PRESIDENT-ELECT, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, SAYING: "I assure you that Boko Haram will soon know the strength of our collective will and the commitment to lift this nation up higher." Buhari is set to become the first politician in Nigerian history to succeed a sitting leader by ballot, President Goodluck Jonathan having conceded defeat soon after the result was announced. But political analyst Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa says Buhari will not only have to take on Boko Haram, but also corruption among the country's elite. (SOUNDBITE) (English) POLITICAL ANALYST, EBUN-OLU ADEGBORUWA, SAYING: "You see a country whereby the number of private jets out number public aircraft; that's what he has promised to stop in this country and that is the major challenge." Nigeria accounts for about one in six Africans and a fifth of African GDP, giving it huge potential influence on the continent and beyond. His supporters say Buhari is well-positioned to make the most of it.
