French President Francois Hollande arrived in Cuba Sunday (May 10) to become the first French head of state to visit the Cuban state. Hollande is slated to meet Cuban President Raul Castro on May 11th and take part in an economic forum. Hollande's stop in Cuba is part of a tour through the Caribbean that included a visit to the overseas French department of Guadeloupe to inaugurate a museum honouring the victims of slavery in the region. The visit is the first of any western European leader to Cuba since Spanish Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez stopped over back in 1986, according to French media reports.
