The siege at a guest-house that started on Tuesday night in the diplomatic quarter of Kabul was still going on Wednesday morning. Heavily armed gunmen stormed the building in the Afghan capital. The Interior Ministry said they were carrying a range of weapons including rocket-propelled grenade launchers. The siege ended on Wednesday with all four attackers dead. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault on the guest-house, said by police to belong to the family of former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani. It was the latest high-profile attack on foreigners and government targets in the past two weeks.
