Sony, Xbox unveil new games at E3

Gaming giants Sony and Xbox unveil their new games and improvements to their consoles at E3 2015 press conferences as the gaming expo kicks off. Joel Flynn reports.

For an industry estimated to be worth 92 billion dollars a year, this is the cutting edge. The Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, opened on June 15 to fanfare from gaming powerhouses Sony and Xbox. Microsoft's Xbox One console the first to whet the appetite of gamers around the world - starting with backwards compatibility. SOUNDBITE: Microsoft Head of Xbox Division, Phil Spencer, saying (English): "Your Xbox 360 games, the games you've invested your time and money in, and the games you want to continue to be played, will be playable natively on your Xbox One. Our goal is to deliver the largest games catalog ever on Xbox. And Xbox One backwards compatibility allows us to do just that." Xbox trailed huge new exclusive titles for the console, including Rise of the Tomb Raider and Halo 5. For Sony meanwhile, their own exclusives - including a first look at gameplay for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End." And more big news for fans of the Call of Duty first person shooter franchise. SOUNDBITE: Sony Computer Entertainment President and Group CEO, Andrew House, saying (English): "In addition, Sony Playstation 4 owners will be the first to play the upcoming, multi-player "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" this August. Playstation is the new home for "Call of Duty." The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) runs through to June 18th at the Los Angeles Convention Center
