U.S. Marine Lawrence Hutchins III, seen here in file footage, has been re-convicted of murdering a retired Iraqi police officer in 2006 but won't serve any more time in custody. A military jury in California's sentenced him to the seven years he's already served behind bars. He's also been given a bad-conduct discharge from the Marine Corps. Hutchins was the leader of a squad who abducted and shot their victim while on a mission to stop militants using improvised explosive devices in 2006. They placed a gun and a shovel next to the body of 52-year-old Hashim Ibrahim Awad to suggest he'd been planting a bomb. Hutchins was convicted of murder in 2007. That was later overturned, reinstated, and overturned again. He's now been convicted again of murder, conspiracy and larceny but cleared of making false statements. Seven other squad members have been convicted of crimes at courts-martial but none was jailed for more than 18 months.
