This flag will not fly anymore with some top American retailers. Sears and Wal-Mart said Monday they will stop selling products bearing the Confederate flag, with eBay, and Amazon now following suit. Hillary Clinton, while at a church in Missouri, commended the retailers for their swift action in dropping the flag merchandise. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE HILLARY CLINTON, SAYING: "We can't hide from hard truths about race and justice. We have to name them and own them and change them." eBay says the civil war flag has become a "contemporary symbol of divisiveness and racism"... after a white gunman shot nine dead last week at a historically black church in South Carolina. Governor Nikki Haley has called for the flag's removal from the State House grounds. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR, NIKKI HALEY, SAYING: "This is a moment in which we could say that that flag, while an integral part of our past, does not represent the future of our great state." The flag still maintains a presence on eBay's marketplace. But a spokesman says the company will block new listings and begin notifying sellers who have current merchandise listings with the flag. It was originally used as a Civil War battle flag by the seven slave states that broke away from the Union in 1861. But in light of the massacre in Charleston, many want nothing to do with the flag's divisive history.
