When asked whether her refusal to "take leadership" on climate change is due to the fact that she takes contributions from the fossil fuel industry Clinton responded, "No." "I know what the right answer in terms of getting votes would have been. The right answer would be you bet I will ban extraction on public lands, and then if somebody said 'how are you going to do that' -- well I would advocate for it," she said. "We have to change our energy policy, I have been clear about that," she added. Later participants continued to criticize Clinton on climate change. "You know what," Clinton said. "I have said in this campaign I am going to tell you what I believe, and some people may like it and some people may not like it."
