They gathered to mourn the victims of the United States' latest shooting rampage. At least nine people were killed when a gunman opened fire into a classroom at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. Another seven have been wounded. The gunman was also killed in an exchange of fire with police. He's not yet been officially identified and Sheriff John Hanlin says his lips will never speak the killer's name. (SOUNDBITE)(English) DOUGLAS COUNTRY SHERIFF JOHN HANLIN SAYING: "We have information that leads us to believe that we know who the shooter is. The official ID will come from the medical examiner's office. Let me be very clear. I will not name the shooter. " The massacre is the latest in series of mass shootings in the U.S. targeting colleges, cinemas, military bases and churches in recent years. The Roseburg bloodshed has again fuelled demands for tighter gun control and better care for the mentally ill. President Barack Obama says the latest incident should move Americans to pressure elected officials for more controls on weapons ownership.
