ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton added some star power to her campaign when she was joined on the road in Iowa by pop singer Katy Perry, as well as her husband former President Bill Clinton. Perry performed her hit song 'Roar' for an enthusiastic crowd of Clinton supporters in the key primary state, as Clinton surges in the polls. Clinton won a major union endorsement on Friday, further boosting her front-runner status in the race for the Democratic nomination in the November 2016 election. The 1.6-million-member AFSCME's endorsement represents a boost in Clinton's efforts to woo labor. It is the latest sign of a resurgence by Clinton, who had been dropping in opinion polls just weeks ago but lately has benefited from a standout debate performance as well as the exit of Joe Biden a major potential rival. Also joining Hillary Clinton in Iowa was her husband Bill Clinton. The former President has so far kept a low profile in his wife's campaign, but on Saturday made an appearance at the rally ahead of the Iowa state party's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. The rally and traditionally high-profile dinner come barely more than three months ahead of the Iowa caucuses, the country's first nominating contest. Clinton's poll numbers slid ahead of the first Democratic debate on Oct. 13, but a solid performance there gave her a lift among her party's voters. Clinton faces a stiff challenge in Iowa from left-leaning Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, whose populist campaign has put him within striking distance of Clinton in the Iowa polls.
