ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Chinese President Xi Jinping held a welcome ceremony for French President Francois Hollande on Monday (November 2) in Beijing, on the first day of his visit to the country. Xi and Hollande inspected honor guards inside Beijing's Great Hall of the People, before sitting down for talks with delegations from China and France. Hollande is in China at the invitation of Xi. High on the agenda throughout the trip will be China's support for the Paris climate conference at the end of the month, Hollande's office said in a statement prior to his departure. China is the world's largest carbon emitter, but its status as a developing country has meant it is under no obligation to promise carbon cuts, a situation that has irked some industrialized nations. China and the U.S. have outlined a common vision to secure an ambitious climate deal in Paris, agreeing that emissions targets should "ramp up over time in the direction of greater ambition". Hollande is set to visit the Western city of Chongqing in the morning on Tuesday (November 3) before returning to Beijing in the afternoon
