Extreme cyclist to go coast to coast in Cuba

Extreme cyclist Jacob Zurl is preparing to ride in Cuba coast to coast in record time. Nathan Frandino reports.

From coast to coast, Austrian extreme cyclist Jacob Zurl is going the distance in Cuba. (SOUNDBITE) (German) AUSTRIAN EXTREME CYCLIST, JACOB ZURL, SAYING: "I am going to cycle Cuba without stopping, from Masi to Cape San Antonio. It will be the first non-stop ride crossing the island." The 1,400-kilometer ride typically is done in two weeks, but Zurl plans to ride it in under 55 hours. He says he chose Cuba because of its spinning resilience. (SOUNDBITE) (German) AUSTRIAN EXTREME CYCLIST, JACOB ZURL, SAYING: "The Cuban people have survived under this embargo for more than 50 years and I want to feel the essence of the country and how the Cubans are living and handling the situation." Zurl is spending his days getting acclimated to Cuba before setting off on December 12th.
