The exact death toll remains unclear in Nigeria, where an explosion at a gas plant in the south has left at least "tens of people" dead. One journalist at the scene said he saw as many as a hundred charred bodies in the aftermath. The office of President Muhammadu Buhari said it happened in Anambra state -- as a truck dispensed butane gas to a crowd of customers waiting to refill their tanks. Many were preparing for the Christmas Eve holiday. Another journalist said the truck exploded while discharging the gas, causing a spark that caused the deadly blast itself. Most of the dead were said to be customers or people who simply lived close by. Many of the injured were being treated for burns at nearby hospitals and relief agency workers were still assessing the full extent of the disaster.
