ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Republican presidential candidate Senator Marco Rubio took aim at rival Senator Ted Cruz on CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday, saying when it comes to Cruz's conservative record, "he's not what he portrays himself to be." "It's kind of bizarre, because Ted is leading in a lot of the polls, he has a vast organization here, and he has spent a lot of money, his campaign has bragged repeatedly about how well they are going to do here, so it's kind of strange that at the last minute, they have pivoted all their attacks against me," Rubio said. The influential Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa poll released on Saturday showed a tight race, with Donald Trump receiving 28 percent of the support of likely Iowa caucus-goers and Cruz 23 percent, with Rubio overwhelmingly the third choice, at 15 percent. Rubio said Cruz "used to support...doubling the number of green cards, now he is against it. He used to support a 500 percent increase in guest worker visas, now he is against that." "In issue after issue you see incredible calculation; you know he goes to New York and raises millions of dollars, and then goes to the rest of the country and attacks New York values," he added. "These are things that over time people start to realize that there is a real calculation here, politically and it just catches up with you." On Monday, Iowans will gather in homes, gymnasiums, libraries, taverns and even grain elevators for caucuses to select their favorite for the Democratic and Republican presidential nominations. When they are finished, the race will take on a new dynamic and several candidates could drop out altogether.
