Syrian forces head into what's left of a town in the coastal province of Latakia. Footage released by the Syria Central Military Media shows government forces moving through the town of Kansaba. They now claim they have complete control over the town. But the fight goes on. The army says the recapture of the Latakia countryside will allow it to launch a major operation to regain the northwestern province of Idlib -- now mainly in the hands of hardline Islamist groups. A ceasefire is excepted to take hold in Syria Friday -- at least that was the hope when world powers met in Munich last week. On Monday Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said a ceasefire did not mean each side had to stop using weapons -- while noting nobody was capable of securing the conditions for one within a week. The landscape tells part of the story, a country broken apart with a death toll of 250,000.
