A magnitude-7.8 earthquake in Ecuador has killed dozens as the government declares a national emergency. Yiming Woo reports.

Ecuador's strongest earthquake in decades has killed at least 41 people. Damage is widespread and the death toll's likely to rise. In the largest city of Guayaquil, a major bridge has collapsed. The magnitude-7.8 quake struck at a shallow depth and was felt throughout the country. Authorities have warned of rising tides and told people to evacuate coastal areas. Ecuador's president has declared a national emergency.
