ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Yogis celebrate the first day of summer with a peaceful class in the middle of New York City's busy Times Square. The 14th annual event is held on summer solstice, the longest and brightest day of the year, which yogis say allows them to use the sun's energy to power them from distractions. "Anybody can get calm if they're in the beautiful scenic place on the top of a mountain. But to try and stay calm, get centered in the middle of a place as busy and distracting as Times Square, which really is this representation of our busy crazy urban lives. That's the challenge," said Tim Tompkins, the president of the Times Square and a yoga teacher. The Mind Over Madness Yoga is a day-long free event. "You're so peaceful, it doesn't matter what's going on around you. It just is really amazing to be able to do this in the city," said Nina Triolo. "I feel like it grounds you more trying to distract yourself from the noise," added Ashley Rose Lee. Because of construction in the area, only 8,000 participants were able to attend one of the eight classes. The event normally attracts 15,000.
