Friday, July 22, 2016 - 01:32

U.S. President Barack Obama says reports that the U.S. was somehow behind the attempted coup in Turkey are ''false'' beyond a shadow of a doubt. ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. President Barack Obama told reporters at the White House on Friday that any rumors that the U.S. was in any way involved in a coup attempt in Turkey were "unequivocally false." He said that the U.S. would encourage the Turkey coup investigation to be consistent with rule of law. Obama went on to say that the U.S. hopes there is not an overreaction in Turkey that leads to curtailment of civil liberties.
