ROUGH CUT - NATURAL (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Seven rebel soldiers suspected of taking part in an attempted coup against Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan's government on July 15 were captured near Marmaris on Monday (July 25). The captured soldiers attacked the hotel where Erdogan was staying on the night of the attempted coup. The military personnel, who were captured in a security operation launched following the coup attempt, include senior figures. Staff Sergeant Erkan Cikat, who was among those captured on Monday, was seen being escorted by military forces into a vehicle. More than 240 people were killed and 2,000 injured in violence surrounding the July 15 coup attempt. Erdogan has declared a state of emergency, which allows him to sign new laws without prior parliamentary approval and limit rights as he deems necessary. The government has said these steps are needed to root out supporters of the coup and will not infringe on the rights of Turks.
