ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Retired Marine Corps General John Allen, who served as Obama's chief representative to the U.S.-led anti-Islamic State coalition, flanked by members of the armed forces, endorsed Hillary Clinton for president at the DNC on Thursday. "From the battlefield to the capitals of our allies, friends, and partners… the free peoples of the world look to America as the last best hope for peace and for liberty for all humanity… for we are the greatest country on this planet. So we stand before you tonight to endorse Hillary Clinton for President of the United States of America," Allen said. "We trust her judgment... with her as our Commander-in-Chief, America will continue to lead in this volatile world," he added. Clinton made history on Tuesday when she became the first woman to secure the presidential nomination from a major party. When she formally accepts it on Thursday, she will become the Democratic standard-bearer against Republican nominee Trump in the Nov. 8 election.
