ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION). Story: Hillary Clinton on Thursday (August 11) sharply criticized the economic policies of her Republican rival Donald Trump, calling it a "myth" that he's for "the little guy." "There is a myth out there that he will stick it to the rich and powerful because, somehow, he's really on the side of the little guy," she told supporters in Michigan. "Don't believe it." Clinton pointed to Trump's pledges to cut federal regulation on businesses, saying those rules currently protect consumers from a variety of problems including water and air pollution. She drew sharp contrasts between their economic visions for the country, saying Trump's plan will favor the wealthy and give himself and his family huge tax cuts. She also denounced the tone of Trump's campaign, saying "insults and bullying" are not the way to "get things done." Trump ignited a new controversy on Tuesday (August 9) when he made comments which some interpreted as a call for violence against his White House rival. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll taken Aug. 5-8 - before Trump's latest controversy - showed that nearly one-fifth of 396 registered Republicans said they want Trump to drop out of the race and another 10 percent said they "don't know" whether the Republican nominee should or not.
