ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton aimed her strongest attack yet at her Republican rival Donald Trump on Thursday (September 8). Speaking at a historically black college in Charlotte, North Carolina the morning after a New York security forum featuring separate appearances by the two candidates, Clinton slammed the businessman for praising Russian President Vladimir Putin and saying U.S. generals had been "reduced to rubble" by the policies of U.S. President Barack Obama. She called his remarks "unpatriotic" and "insulting," and appealed to Republicans to cross party lines and vote for her. She said the country had never been threatened as much by a candidate as it had by Trump. Clinton has been trying to regain support which has flagged in recent weeks. The current average of polls by website RealClearPolitics puts her at 45.6 percent support, compared to Trump's 42.8 percent.
