Tanks from the opposition Free Syrian Army ... said to be mobilizing in northern Aleppo province against government forces... But rebel defences in the divided CITY of Aleppo, appear to be weakening. A monitoring groups says Syrian President Bashar al Assad's army and its allies have regained control over an entire city district called Ramousah. If sustained, the advance would reverse nearly all the gains Syrian rebels made last month, as they tried to break a government siege over Aleppo, Syria's second largest city before the war. Aleppo has been split between the government controlled west, and the rebel held east, with at least a quarter of a million people living in rebel territory. Attacks on rebel-held districts, like this one in the neighborhood of Sukari on Wednesday, have reduced buildings to rubble. A suspected gas attack in this same neighborhood just the day before reportedly suffocated dozens of residents. And as the advance on RAMOUSAH continues, a Shi'ite militia group in neighboring Iraq say it's dispatched over 1,000 fighters to the Syrian front-line.... ... a move that further escalates foreign involvement in the battle for Aleppo, the biggest prize in five years of relentless civil war.
