ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Russian President Vladimir Putin visited a nature reserve for rare wild horses in Orenburg region on Monday (October 3). The reserve in the southern Ural Mountains houses Przewalski's horses, which are in danger of extinction in Russia. The Russian president gave the horses feed and was shown encouraging the horses to leave their fenced enclosure to be released into grasslands. The reserve breeds and cares for the horses with the aim of preparing them for reintroduction into the wild. The Russian president enjoys his reputation as an animal lover. Other public outings have seen the president famously ride a horse shirtless, lead Siberian cranes on their winter migratory route, help measure an Amur tiger's incisors and tag a polar bear.
