PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3 NATURAL ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION A magnitude 7.4 earthquake shook Fukushima on Tuesday (November 22), triggering a small tsunami along the coast and temporarily disrupting a nuclear reactor fuel pool's cooling system. There were no reports of deaths or serious injuries several hours after the quake hit at 5:59 a.m. that morning (2059 GMT Monday September 21). A tsunami of up to one metre (three feet) was observed around Fukushima, the same region devastated by a 2011 quake, tsunami and nuclear disaster. A wave of up to 1.4 metres (4.5 ft) high was recorded at Sendai, about 70 km (45 miles) north of Fukushima, public broadcaster NHK said. Ships moved out to sea from harbours. People were told to quickly evacuate to high ground. The tsunami warnings were later downgraded to advisories, and removed after midday.
