Victory for Syria's Bashar al Assad looks closer now than ever before after more than five years of fighting. The Syrian army is pressing a fresh offensive in Aleppo -- an operation to retake the last remaining areas of the besieged city still under rebel control. This potentially final push for Aleppo includes ground fighting and air strikes. The advance is said to be going faster than expected -- the army and allied forces from Russia and Iran having recaptured 32 of Aleppo's 40 neighborhoods. That's 85 percent of the area. Rebels had controlled the eastern half of the city since 2012 but forces loyal to the Syrian president have driven them from out in just two weeks. Many hundreds have been reported killed in the offensive but there are fears the death toll still to come will be heavy -- as the holed outs in Aleppo become confined in a tighter and tighter space.
