ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Staff at London zoo began the mammoth task of counting the park's 712 species of more than 18,000 animals in their annual stocktake on Tuesday (January 3). "It's an opportunity for all of the animal teams to go out and make a record of how many individual animals we've got on each section. It's part of our zoo licensing requirement to take an inventory of the animals," said Zoological Society London manager Mark Habben. The annual count is also about conservation and protecting endangered species, Habben said that this represents success for the zoo.
