(SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL COACH, STEVEN GERRARD, SAYING ABOUT NEW COACHING ROLE: "Very excited. A brand new role to try and develop and improve as a coach and to one day become a good coach or a good manager. I've got a lot to learn and a lot of hard work to do but it's certainly very exciting to start that off." STORY: Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said Philippe Coutinho has a significant part to play in the near future for his team after the Brazilian signed a new long-term contract with the Merseyside club. The 24 year-old Coutinho, who has scored 34 goals in 163 appearances for Liverpool and recently returned from injury, penned a new contract on Wednesday (January 25). "Well, I think for any team you've always got to try and keep your best players and Philippe's been instrumental over the last couple of years. You know, I've trained against him on a daily basis and I've played with him and he's a phenomenal footballer. He can do magical things with the ball and he's the type of player you want to build your team around. You know, if Liverpool are to be successful in the next couple of years I'm sure he'll have a big part to play in it. He's a magical player," Gerrard said. The former England captain has agreed to rejoin Liverpool as a youth coach and said he was 'lucky' to have a chance to learn from a 'world-class mamager' like Jurgen Klopp. "Very excited. A brand new role to try and develop and improve as a coach and to one day become a good coach or a good manager. I've got a lot to learn and a lot of hard work to do but it's certainly very exciting to start that off," said Gerrard. "Of course a world-class manager. I'm blessed and lucky to have him to look up to and him to bounce things off and he's gone on record this week to say he'll do everything he can to help me. To be in this position is music to my ears so hopefully we can develop an even stronger relationship than we've got." The Champions League winner was in London to promote a new six-aside tournment, Star Sixes, which is due to be held at venues across the world. The event is due to kick off at the O2 Arena this summer, with big names of football including Gerrard, Michael Ballack and Roberto Carlos lined-up to compete against each other.
