Over 1 million people have signed a petition urging Britain to withdraw an invitation for U.S President Donald Trump to visit London and dine with Queen Elizabeth. Sarah Charlton reports.

A UK petition to stop a state visit by U.S. President Trump gathering over one million signatures and climbing quickly. Urging the British government to withdraw an invitation for Trump to visit London and dine with Queen Elizabeth later this year. The campaign gathering pace after Trump put a four-month hold on allowing refugees into the United States, and temporarily barring travellers from Syria and six other Muslim-majority countries. Once a petition passes 100,000 signatures British lawmakers must consider it for debate in Parliament. Members from the governing Conservative Party and opposition Labour Party have criticised Trump's move. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn saying the state visit should be put on hold. Traditional allies in Europe also speaking out. In Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel reminded Trump in a phone call of refugee rights under the Geneva Convention. The EU working to find a common stance on what to do. World leaders feeling the heat from the public to some of Trump's policy making. Trying to find the balance of working with the United States in 2017.
