STORY: The Republican leader of the U.S. House of Representatives said on Tuesday (February 7) that legislation to replace former President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law will be completed this year, although it may take longer to implement. "We are going to do our legislating this year," House Speaker Paul Ryan told a press briefing. "We are going to be going out and talking about what our plan is. ... We hope to get this done as fast as possible." Ryan was responding to questions about President Donald Trump's weekend interview with Fox News in which he said it might take until next year to replace the healthcare law, known as Obamacare. "Obamacare is collapsing. It's not working... And now our committees are in the midst of actually putting that plan together. And so yes, this year, we're going to be going out and talking about what our plan is, the one we can on in 2016..." said Ryan. Speaker Ryan also commented on the ongoing legal battle over Trump's immigration order. On Tuesday, Trump said he needed a U.S. appeals court considering the legality of his immigration order to go his way, saying a lot of "bad people" are thinking of coming to the United States. Ryan said the administration is following "proper proceedures." "This administration is honoring the ruling and this administration is going through the proper proceedures to deal with the ruling... I know he's an unconventional president, he gets frustrated with judges, we get frustrated with judges but he's respecting the process and I think that's what counts at the end of the day," said Ryan.
