(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) Venezuela's socialist leader Nicolas Maduro said on Wednesday (February 15) that he wanted to avoid confrontation with new U.S. President Donald Trump. "I don't want problems with Mr. Donald Trump. President Donald Trump should know that the Revolutionary Bolivarian state of Venezuela, the children of Bolivar [Venezuelan independence hero Simon Bolivar] and of Chavez [late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez] and I, as President of the Republic, I don't want problems with your administration," Maduro said in a speech, after Trump held various conversations with other Latin American leaders expressing concern over Venezuela. "Mr. President Donald Trump, open your eyes. Open your ears. Don't get carried into the erratic area of mistakes and defeats and repeat the same mistakes of George Bus, of the Bush clan and of the Clinton-Obama clan. It is a clan, Clinton-Obama. No. If you ask me if I want to fight with Donald Trump, no. I say it clearly so that no one can have any doubt. Venezuela wants relations of respect on terms of equality with the new administration, but it seems that they are already pushing and pushing and it will fall into the same hole as the Bush clan and the Clinton-Obama clan fell into," Maduro continued. In the same speech, Maduro addressed the suspension of CNN's Spanish-language service from Venezuelan airwaves, which he had ordered earlier in the day. He accused the network of distorting the truth in coverage.
