Force Friday to return for 'The Last Jedi'

Disney has announced that Force Friday, the 'Star Wars' event they organised to launch 'The Force Awakens' in 2015, will return this year prior to the release of 'The Last Jedi'. Rollo Ross reports.

Disney has announced that they will once again be holding a 'Force Friday' at midnight on September 1 to unveil the latest toys from the upcoming 'Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi'. Like last time, the event, called 'Force Friday II' will be worldwide, allowing fans around the globe to get a first glimpse of what will feature in the eighth film in the franchise. SOUNDBITE, Lima International EVP, Marty Brochstein, saying (English): "To expect the same kind of frenzy is setting the bar unrealistically high because it's a different atmosphere right now. Last time it was the first Disney movie... the first Star Wars movie in 10 years. This time, 'Star Wars' is more part of the venacular. I think it will be huge, huge event for Disney and they will do very very big numbers surrounding the new movie and for Force Friday." 'Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi' will launch two and a half months after the toys on December 15.
