ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards, the amateur British ski jumper who gained worldwide fame when he competed at the Winter Olympics in Calgary in 1988, returned to the Canadian city on Sunday (March 5) to successfully jump once again. About 1,000 people watched Edwards, now aged 53, complete six jumps, the furthest of which was around 24 metres, well short of the 55 metres he jumped in the 1988 Games. Edwards finished last in both the 70 and 90-metre hill events in 1988, but his endeavours to make himself a ski jumper in Britain, a country with no ski jumping facilities at all, helped make him famous around the world. His achievements were recently turned into a film, called "Eddie the Eagle", starring Hugh Jackman.
