Rock'n'roll pioneer Chuck Berry died Saturday afternoon at the age of 90... Emergency responders were called to Berry's home in St. Charles County - outside St. Louis - where they found the performer unconscious. He was later pronounced dead. At a young age, Berry was a trendsetter.. While growing up in St. Louis, Berry performed the blues at his high school, which was seen as inappropriate at the time... Berry emerged as a star guitarist during rock's birth in the 1950s... He was known for his signature bent-knee duck walk that he said he invented as a child to make his mother laugh. His hits 'Johnny B. Goode', Sweet Little Sixteen' and 'Memphis' melded elements of blues, rockabilly and jazz... His stardom came at a time of racial segregation in the U.S.... but for any young viewer, it was hard to resist cheering on this energetic singer... In 1979, he performed for President Jimmy Carter at the White House.. And he was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986... He was a big influence on stars like Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen... Berry kept singing and duck-walking well into his 80s.. and on his 90th birthday last year, he said he would release his first album in 38 years...
